International Volunteer Day - December 5, 2018

International Volunteer Day (IVD) mandated by the UN General Assembly, is held every year on December 5.

It is observed as a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-profit organizations, government authorities and the private sector.

It is hard to imagine a day at Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington (ISGW) without the involvement of our volunteers. Over 100 volunteers have been recruited for the various programs that we run since October 2017. Volunteers have logged over 1,300 hours since April 2018 and that number is consistently increasing.

On this special day, I would like to take the opportunity to appreciate and thank the volunteers who have supported our agency by staying committed and dedicated throughout the year. It is people like you who can build and sustain a community through your tireless efforts.
