MOBILEConnect Clubs

MOBILEConnect is an E-literacy project for older adults who have little or no computer experience and who may not participate in similar programs because of language or cultural barriers.

A 12-week, two hour per week program introduces basic computer and internet skills so that seniors are able to find information, use e-services and connect to support networks. After the 12-week session we encourage members to return as volunteers to assist new participants or to participate in other senior friendly events in the community. The goal of the project is to have clubs across Guelph run by volunteers, with IS-GW able to provide a mobile computer lab, curriculum and ongoing training and support for volunteers. The program is offered in English and language support in other languages will be provided as needed.

Where are we offering MOBILEConnect?

We want to offer computer clubs throughout the City of Guelph in accessible neighbourhood locations such as library branches or community rooms within neighbourhood schools, apartment complexes and housing co-operatives. The locations should be close to bus routes or within walking distance of residential neighbourhoods.
