The Language Assessment Centre at Immigrant Services is an assessment and referral centre for Newcomers in Guelph and Wellington County. We provide FREE language assessment services for adult immigrants over 18 years of age who are Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees. It is a warm and welcoming place!
Assessments are done by a certified Language Assessor and are based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB). This standardized assessment measures a learner's ability to use English in listening, speaking, reading and writing. After the assessment, language benchmarks are assigned. Learners can then be placed in LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) and ESL (English as Second Language) programs in Guelph and Wellington County, or referred to other language training programs.
