The first step in joining language training offered by Federal (LINC) and Provincial (ESL) programs is to take a language assessment.
The Language Assessment Centre is a warm and welcoming place! We provide language assessment services to all adult immigrants over 18 years of age who are permanent residents, convention refugees and protected persons, or naturalized Canadian citizens. We use the Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment to measure English language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Regular hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and late afternoon assessments are available on Thursdays until 7:00 pm.
The assessment can take up to 2 hours and it is mandatory to bring along your immigration document (such as Permanent Resident Card (PR Card), Confirmation of Permanent Resident paper, Canadian Passport/Citizenship Card, Refugee Claimant Document, or Notice of Decision).
